Factoid from Mrs. An:later in the French Revolution, after the British defeated Napoleon, the British king snapped up lots of French art and treasures and put them in Windsor Castle. The current monarchs got their last name from this castle, they were German and had a very German sounding last name,
Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (because they inherited the throne), and when Germany was the "bad guy" during WWI, the British king choose a new last name.
